International History

Phi Gamma Delta was founded on May 1, 1848, at Jefferson College in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. The founders of the Fraternity, reverently referred to by brothers today as the Immortal Six, were John Templeton McCarty, Samuel Beatty Wilson, James Elliott, Ellis Bailey Gregg, Daniel Webster Crofts, and Naaman Fletcher.

Missouri State University Chapter History

The Delta Colony of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) at Missouri State University was officially founded on March 1, 2007. Starting with 17 men we quickly went down to what we at Missouri State Fiji refer to as the "Solid Ten" consisting of Wes Martin, Sagar "CJ" Tolani, Brian Fellows, Willie Trey Prothro, Shayne L. Martin, Garrett Holt, Travis Reed, John Busch, Matt Wynn, and Nick Ecklekamp by the next month. It is through these solid ten that we were able to gain status as an organization and represent ourselves well at all Greek functions held at the University in the Spring of 2007 including winning two free exchanges and ranking 2nd academically among all Fraternities on campus. In addition we held a successful alcohol education program given by Lee Souter from Internationals and held a campus beautification project which consisted of building walk-way steps between Plaster Sports Complex and the University Power Station.

In the Fall of 2007 The Solid Ten were able to recruit more solid members. The beta recruitment class started at 15 but dropped to 10 (no hazing was or will ever be involved). The beta class was initiated on Friday, November 16th at 7pm in the Plaster Student Union. The members initiated were, John Gauthier, Casey Cansler, John Bollinger, Jack Hederman, Chris Birnbaum, Jack Torno, Ryan Stockard, and Dustin Johnson. These men represent the future of the Fraternity. The beta class held several fundraisers including a car wash and the selling of discount cards. Their campus service project was a clean up and beautification. Their GPA was above the all men's average as well. During this semester the Alpha and Beta classes won several soccer games, gained highest attendance at several other Greek Philanthropies and won Best Risk Management and Best Leadership at the Greek Awards.

In the Spring of 2008 we added six members to our Colony, Ben Feimer, Alex Jones, Micah Ward, Nick Hermann, Bob Williamson, and Nate Duncan. The Gamma pledge class jumped straight in and held their own non-alcoholic social, regular community service activities, and a soon to be fundraiser. Greek Week in the Spring of 2008 went extremely well with the Fiji men taking Second in the Men's and Second overall, a great feat with only 23 men compared to the larger well established Fraternities. As of now the Black Diamond Golf Classic is scheduled for April 5th, along with the Norris Pig Dinner. The Black Diamond formal will be coming up and it will be great to see what our Fiji gentlemen do next!

In the Spring of 2009 Phi Gamma Delta chartered at Missouri State University.  After two years of hard work and dedication the Psi Mu Chapter was chartered on February 28th, 2009.
